Actually, it is not more than just an iron lattice tower which you can find at the Champ de Mars in the Paris, France. The name Eiffel itself comes from the engineer who build and design the tower, Alexandre Gustave Eiffel. This tower was made as the entrance arch for the 1889 World Fair. The funny things is, there are so many intellectuals and artists who criticized the design of Eiffel tower, but now it has become one of the most famous and recognized worldwide heritage, and also Franceís main icon.

The main idea of the creation of this building was based on the idea of bringing together all the different art and literature in one place.

In the past, the area where this building made was a market area. People hoped by move the modern art museum to that area would be able to help renew the idea that Paris is indeed a city for art and culture. They also think that Paris people need a big public library, which still does not exist that day. If you plan to visit this place, remember that you only can access the escalator if you have pay the entry fee.

That is why, if you are a pedestrian, you can use the one of the two underpasses which you can find at the Avenue de la Grande Armee and the Champs Elysees. You can use the lift there which can take you to the top part of the arch.
